Come watch a 40-something newbie hack try and build a functioning guitar!

Since I am not a professional musician, and play mostly resonator, slide, and acoustic I wanted to design something that was very versatile. Clean blues, over-driven chords, and a lot of tones in between. This red 'Fat Telecaster' (Squire model) is the basic look I want, but with some enhancements. There is a list of all the parts used at the end of the build chronicle...

This is a chronical, (both in pictures and detailed explanation), of my first home built electric guitar.  Non-fans of home building guitars will find this site EXTREMELY BORING due to its mind-numbing detail.  Even fellow home build enthusiasts may find it 'over done'.

BUT...in order to get this first build off the ground successfully, it took me MONTHS of research, questioning, and planning from dozens of different sources just to make sure I did this right the first time.  I don't have the disposable income to scrap a $300 guitar body because I did something wrong!

The purpose of this site is to hopefully give a 'newbie' a single source for a start to finish custom Telecaster build.

SO...........away we go....

My plan is to build a different guitar for each of my kids and put them in wall hung display cases - that way when I'm dead, at least they can point to the one I made for them and tell their friends, "My dad SUCKED at building things..."

Keef says, Eepuuwr, muffe goosah ..heh heh heh

Translated from the mumble..."You can build it ,man!"

THIS IS HOW I FEEL WHEN I THINK ABOUT THE DETAILS!
